This man at the bakery waves wildly at me to please come over so he can ask, "De donde eres?" (Where are you from?!) Cubans are extremely curious of my origin as they claim they've never seen a person like me that looks Chinese but isn't ugly. There used to be tons of Chinese people in Cuba, originally brought in for slavery. Fidel gave everyone a window to leave the country when he took over, so all the Chinese people left, leaving only the old Chinese people, and a "Barrio de Chino" or Chinatown and a massive, and beautiful Chinese cemetery and park.
