Kas Town

Viewed: 110

Kas is an attractive harbour town with mountains rising up behind it, which we first visited in May 2004 when we spent 2 or 3 hours wandering around it on our way back to Kalkan from Arykanda. The road between Kas and Kalkan is very scenic as it runs right along the edge of the coast.

In October 2009, we stayed at the superb Deniz Feneri Lighthouse, which is situated at the end of the peninsula which stretches westwards from Kas.

The central area of Kas is generally very attractive with some of the streets being cobbled and pedestrianised. There are plenty of shops to attract visitors and some good restaurants. It also has a vast market every week selling a huge variety of goods.

As well as spending time enjoying the facilities of the hotel, we also spent a few hours one day at the Derya Beach Club & Restaurant (see below) and another day relaxing on a gulet.

We also revisited Arykanda, and went on from there to the inland town, Gombe.

There are several beach clubs in a bay near to the town centre and the harbour of which this is one. We spent a pleasant day relaxing on sunbeds and swimming there, and had a snack lunch at its attractive restaurant.
