Goal: Winterset, Iowa

Reality:  Winterset, Iowa!

First off…it looks like the posts times are out of whack, and we have reports of a lot of misspelled words. Heather is doing this in word then cutting and pasting it into the tripntale web site so there could be issues with their site. Thanks for all the comments; sorry we haven’t had time to get back to anyone. Here is the next update from H!

We left Jellystone this morning at 7am.  I started the day off with a fright.  It was still dark when I was dressing.  I put on my jeans and felt something sliding down my leg. I about had an attack jumping around and trying to get them off when a pair of KL’s underwear fell out of the leg.  It must have gotten stuck in there when doing laundry.  I was very happy to see the stripped undies and not some type of rodent!  Our drive yesterday was fairly uneventful.  We crossed the Mississippi river leaving behind Il and saying hello again to Iowa.  KL found a great campground in Winterset, MadisonCounty where we toured the covered bridges. It was right next to the park in town that features a covered bridge. We had a beautiful sunny afternoon and enjoyed the solitude and serenity of the dirt roads.  Winterset is the birthplace of John Wayne.  The home where he was born is pictured.  After our tour of the country side we went out to dinner to celebrate KL’s birthday.  This turned out to be more like torture than a treat.  Everything in the place was either greasy or sticky and this includes the hair of our waitress.  We are hoping to find someplace wonderful to eat BBQ in Kansas City tomorrow!
