Reality: WalMart Parking Lot Muskegon, MI
Today was bittersweet. We would have liked to spend more time in Bayside, but MI beckons us. After a delicious breakfast we leave for Manitowtoc, WI to board the SS Badger, trailer and all, and cross Lake Michigan to Ludington. The boat left late because of 2 over sized loads, so we were late getting in and the sun was setting fast. We only have 10 miles to drive, but by the time we got to Pentwater it was dark. Finding the camp ground was difficult on the small winding roads through the woods. When we got to there it wasn’t what we were expecting so we decided to press on to SilverLake. We called ahead to Silver Creek RV park and the message said just find a spot and pay in the morning. When we arrived there was a gate arm with no one around. Now the 10 miles we were supposed to travel has turned out to be about 70 on back roads with no signs, no light and deer popping into the roadway. We were frustrated and tired. Since it was 10 pm we decided to head another 45 miles to Muskegon and stay in the Walmart parking lot. Once we arrived safe in the parking lot, where there just happened to be an Arby’s, we had a late night scarf and went to bed!
