On the first of September James and I attempted the Grouse Grind. It's a huge hike up Grouse Mountain. Every single step tests those quadriceps. Every now and again we'd make quick stops to catch our breath. But it was an awesome feeling exercising. The first quarter was a struggle and it was annoying to see the 1/4 sign as it was pretty difficult. But something seemed to click from then on and it seemed manageable as we climbed past the 1/2 and 3/4 signs. We got to the top after 1 hour and 16 minutes which is pretty good for my first time. (James had already been as part of a Swap event) But some crazy athletes (the ones that you see running avec baby in pram) somehow manage to do it in 30 minutes. There's a device where you swipe a tag at the top and bottom and your time is displayed on a screen for all to view in envy??
Georgia has returned from her travels so Dan has moved out and Basil has moved in. Basil is the moody dog who can't be touched. He is lying near me on the couch but if I move suddenly he may get angry. We are still sneaking Sid in for milk and strokes but with the return of Basil, Sid will no longer be around :(
I went out for the first time drinking with friends at a bar with a live country band. Country night at The Roxy. It was fun! Lots of people from work came. I am still no country convert.
We made homemade spaghetti and meatballs and blueberry pancakes. The meatballs were amazing. Pancakes so so. I found some golden syrup but it just isn't the same. Lyle's golden syrup I love you and I can't wait to come home to you.
We are slowly trying to decide where we should go for winter but still haven't made plans. Especially as James has just started working and so money isn't as flowy for him. But we're thinking Jasper, Banff perhaps. Montreal was a consideration but our French is somewhat lacking. We might have to stay in Vancouver and we could then work for the Olympics but we both feel we should go elsewhere.
Hope you are all enjoying the remainder of Summer :( I am now going to return your e-mails. Ciao
