Experience some of the unique museums Barcelona has on offer for you. Lose yourself in the works of Pablo Picasso as you wander through the vast PicassoMuseum which sprawls across five bordering medieval palaces. The museum’s extensive collection takes you through the early sketches and works of Picasso’s formative years spent getting acquainted with the city of Barcelona and its people. Picasso’s relationship with Barcelona began in his youth and lasted throughout his life. Furthermore you will encounter sculptures and ceramic works, as well as of course his better known vibrantly colourful and imaginatively challenging paintings. Relax and unwind in the museum’s restaurant or take home a keepsake from the gift shop. Entry is free on Sundays after 3pm and on several Open Door Days throughout the year.

You won’t want to miss out on seeing Snowy, the famous white chocolate Albino Gorilla! Other sculptures include various well known Barcelonan buildings such as the Casa Baltó, Casa Amatller and the Sagrade Familia. Learn the secrets of the medicinal properties of cocoa and especially for children are many hands on workshops for both educational and culinary purposes!

The Caixa Forum can be described as a contemporary art exhibition space, converted from an old textile factory through the magic of architecture which transformed the building into a work of Art-Nouveau. Now one of Barcelona’s leading cultural centres, the Caixa Forum is home to exhibitions of sculpture, photography, audio visual art, concerts and dance recitals, theatrical performances and let’s not forget the emerging contemporary artists regularly featured here. Sink your teeth into the incredibly modern look and feel of the place whilst not withstanding the traces of history found in some of the art works on display here. This really is the centre for experiencing art and where you may also find yourself feeling, understanding, discovering and conversing with culture.
