Gruchala's Restuarant has a great breakfast before 11 am in Columbia, Illinois
Gruchala's Restaurant, mainstreet Columbia, Illinois, U.S.----
Not real far from downtown St. Louis, Missouri, take I-55 to I-255 from downtown at the Gateway Arch and proceed eastward (Memphis bound) over the pictured JB bridge (Jefferson Barracks) and go south on Illinois highway 3 to Columbia, Illinois. Turn left at the gas station and you are on mainstreet. A couple miles and you are at Gruchala's on your left. Parking in rear and street.
Come in thru the back door or front door and take a seat. Be patient about paying your bill, they have a unique but inefficient way of letting you pay and if you by bad luck get behind one of many locals that buy lotto tickets you will wait even more. The bar takes payment too. The servers don't leave your ticket on your table, you have to get someone to find it, but they will and you can pay Visa or Discover or cash.
For breakfast try the Full breakfast with the best bacon in the world from local Schuberts of Millstadt, Illinois.
Under $5.00 this is the best tasting and most you will get offered in all of St. Louis. 2 eggs, hash browns, toast, and bacon/sausage. Full lunch and dinner menu available too. Breakfast stops at 11 a.m. I nicer dining area is available up front while a casual set up is in the back near the jukebox.
