Near St. Louis, the little town of Columbia, Illinois is as historic as any town around
Take Illinois highway 3 south from I-255 a mile to first light, turn left and enter Columbia, Illnois. Columbia is as quaint a little town east of the Mississippi as you could want. Highly recommended for a day trip when in the area. Get breakfast before 11 am at Gruchala's, then go for lunch at the Columbia City Saloon (soon to be renamed) at the only bowling alley in town. Come on Wednesdays and get a pitcher of beer for $4 all day. Credit cards welcome
Featured here is Imo's Pizza Restaurant, a chain of restaurants in the St. Louis metro area. One of the most quaint locations, has pitchers of beer (Bud Light only) for $5 everyday. Bring your own mug if you don't like styrofoam or plastic cups. Take Illinois hwy 3 south of I-255 just across the JB bridge. Go a mile south on 3 to the first light and turn left. Imo's sits in the immediate area behind the Phillips gas station. Credit cards welcome.
