Rock Patrol Tour - Day 7
I had a really nice night sleep in a normal bed after sleeping in the swag for 4 nights. Got up and relaxed and after I did my washing as I had no clothes left that were not covered in red dust and dirt, Adriannia, Jennet and I got ready and walked into town. Alice is a really nice town, so small but really cool. The weather was lovely too. We bumped into everyone else from the tour who were staying in the other hostels around town and set a meeting time and place for that night. I brought some souvenirs and I also brought the book ’A Town like Alice’ on the recommendation of Fi Fi before I went away. Being a backpacker with a tight budget, I managed to pick it up in the second-hand shop for just 8 bucks instead of 24 for a new copy. Bargain! I have a really cool pic of the second-hand shop. It has a statue outside of a hand and on the little finger it has another hand. Well I thought that was pretty cool anyway!!
After we walked around we went back to the hostel and watched some tv and just sat around chatting then we got ready and met everyone in the bar at about 7. We had dinner in our hostel again because it was pretty cheap. Then we caught the shuttle bus into town. The bus driver told us that you had to wear shoes not thongs to the pub and as I only had my thongs and my walking boots, Jennet lent me her trainers. We went to Bojangles which was a really cool bar. It is world famous and it is all linked up to the internet. There are cameras all around and you can ask family and friends from around the world to go on the website and they can see you in the bar and they can also open a bar tab for you online and buy you drinks. I had heard of a bar who did this but I didn’t realise that this was the one. Had I had put two and two together I would have been asking mum and dad to stick a score on a tab for me!! Anyway, we had a wicked night, we left Bojangles at about 3 and was told the only place to go after was the casino, so off we headed in a few taxis. We were only in there for about an hour and a big fight started so they shut the disco down and we all had to get out. We all said our goodbyes to each other. A lot of us were flying out of Alice at the same time so would see each other at the airport anyway.
Had a really nice day in Alice Springs, wish I had another day so I could have explored a bit more but it was good, I got a real feel for it. Maybe I will be able to come back before I go home. Flick gave me a voucher for $100 off a trip from Darwin to Alice Springs so if I get the chance I would like to do that.
