Are you planning a camping trip in the near future but have no clue where to go?  Choosing a camping destination can be difficult simply because there are so many wonderful options.  Luckily, we have put together a list of the 5 top states for camping so that you can narrow down your list.  Let’s get started, shall we?

Georgia is one of those states that has something for everyone.  In the north of the state, you can find beautiful mountain peaks and some amazing hiking trails.  In the south, you can find deep river bottoms that provide a unique camping opportunity for those who like to rough it.  Also, the state has some of the most beautiful beaches including Cumberland Island National Seashore where you can camp right along with wild horses.  But before you head out on the trail, you will need to check out websites like in order to find the perfect tent for your trip.

The sunshine state is not only full of orange groves and beaches, the state is also home to dozens of state parks.  Florida has spent a lot of time and money building these natural areas and this provides ample camping opportunities for those looking to get away from it all.  Here you can find vast hiking trails and some of the best scenery in the entire country.  Florida is also the location of one of the largest swamps in the world, the Everglades.

California is one of the largest states in the nation and has some of the best places to camp in the world!  This state has several different mountain ranges that provide moderate to difficult hikes and some breath-taking camping spots.  Also, the state has some of the most beautiful beaches on the west coast.  Yosemite national park is also located in California and it’s one of the most popular parks in the nation.

We all know just how wild Alaska is and for those who love to brave the elements, this state is the perfect camping destination.  With lots of open land and forest to choose from, you can’t go wrong by visiting here.  But make sure that you bring enough gear because it gets pretty rough in Alaska, even during the summer months.

South Carolina

Another southern state that offers some of the best camping in the nation is South Carolina.  This state has plenty of backwoods to choose from and they also have beaches and mountains.  One of the most popular places to camp in South Carolina is Hunting Island State Park.  This beach inspired park will allow you to camp right next to the open water!  The park is also home to a wide-range of wildlife including deer, that will come right up next to your campsite.

As you can see, these five states have something totally different to offer.  So, if you would like to take a camping trip this year, why not consider visiting one of these amazing locations?  You will be glad that you did!
