10 Of The Best Glasgow Events Taking Place In 2017

There is no doubt that Glasgow is one of the most eclectic cities in Scotland and 2017 will not be a disappointing year. Let's take a look at ten must-see events that should never be missed.


1. The Glasgow Science Festival

Offering unique exhibitions for all ages, this festival is being held around the city (various venues) and lasts from 8 June until the end of the month. Check with your Scottish accommodation provider for the venues closest to where you are staying.


2. The Glasgow Doctor Who Society

Fans of this popular series will be pleased to know that the Doctor Who Society meets at The Crystal Palace on the third Sunday of every month between January and August.


3. Marvel Universe Live

This event is taking place at the SSE Hydro on 4 January. Be sure not to miss your favourite Marvel action heroes together under one roof to battle evil, pose for photos and much more!


4. Folk Songs from Glasgow

If you want to get a unique look into the culture of Glasgow (and Scotland as a whole), the folk songs being played by Robyn Stapleton on 4 February should not be missed. This event is being held at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and you are even allowed to sing along!


5. Bob Dylan

You don't have to have been born in the 1950s to appreciate the music of this amazing artist. Bob Dylan will be playing at the Clyde Auditorium on 7 May and tickets are already on sale. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity, for the seats are likely to fill up fast.


6. I Love the 90's

If you are a fan of 1990s music, this amazing event should be high on your list of priorities. The "I Love the 90's" concert is taking place on 30 September and it will feature many of the bands that you have grown to love.


7. The Harlem Globetrotters

Come and see the famous Harlem Globetrotters in all of their glory when they play at Braehead Arena on 6 April. Whether you are a keen fan of basketball or not, there is no doubt that these professionals will provide untold hours of entertainment.


8. Brad Paisley

Brad Paisley is the face of modern country music and luckily enough, he will be appearing at the Clyde Auditorium on 12 March. Be sure to purchase tickets in advance to avoid being disappointed at the last minute.


9. The Glasgow Film Festival

This is one of the largest film festivals of its kind and more than 40,000 attendees regularly visit. From independent titles to mainstream pictures, there is indeed something here for everyone. The event lasts from 15 until 26 February and tickets can be purchased directly from the official website.


10. The Merchant City Festival

This festival is meant to celebrate the art, comedy, dancing, visual arts and food scene throughout Glasgow. It is one of the main events held in the city and it will be taking place from the end of July until the end of the first week of August.
