Malta : A Must Visit Place in Europe
MALTA is a beautiful Southern European country. It is internationally renowned as a tourist destination, with numerous recreational areas and historical monuments. The capital city of Malta is Valletta, the largest town, Birkirkara.
Malta is a Mediterranean island and coastal destination with a tradition of tourism from the UK because of its historic links with Britain.
Malta weather is influenced by the Mediterranean temperate climate which Malta enjoys. The Malta weather conditions during the winter months can best be described as mild and rainy.
VALLETTA : Valletta – The capital city and a World Heritage site, is nothing short of an open-air museum. It is a living experience of Baroque architecture, a monument donated by the Knights of St John nearly five centuries ago. Throughout the years, Valletta has welcomed emperors, heads of state, artists and poets and is now the permanent seat of the Maltese government.
MDINA : Mdina Malta The old capital of Mdina is a most interesting and typical mediaeval town situated in the centre of the island. The "Silent City", as it is also known, commands a magnificent view of the Island and although it is fully inhabited, silence reigns supreme.
ANCHOR BAY : Anchor Bay takes its name from the large anchor situated at the edge of the bay. This was one of the most charming and attractive bays in Malta until the area was completely taken over for the filming of ‘Popeye the Movie’ in 1979 starring Robin Williams. The whole set of Sweethaven Village still stands in place thirty years later and has become a mini theme park and tourist attraction to the detriment of the natural environment of the area.
GOZO : Gozo meaning ‘joy’ is the second largest island in Malta. It’s landscape is also distinct with greener flat-topped hills and winding valleys. The countryside is usually bursting with colours while the timeless coastal landscape is tirelessly being battered by the onslaught of unpolluted Mediterranean waves.
The most popular sites of the island include Victoria the commercial capital and its Citadella, the Ggantija temples in Xaghra, the ta’ Pinu Sanctuary in Gharb and Dwejra and the Azure Window in San Lawrenz.
COMINO AND BLUE LAGOON : Comino is a miniscule island half way between Malta and Gozo. In an area of just over a square mile, it packs a day’s pleasurable walk complete with a charming little chapel, picturesque castle and dramatic cliffs, a four star hotel with self catering apartments and the incredible Blue Lagoon.
Natural attractions on the island include Mellieha (Malta’s biggest beach), the Dingli Cliffs (plunging at least 220 m down) and the beautiful Blue Grotto.
Because of its international tourist attraction, Malta is an exciting place to meet and interact with new people from all over the globe. Malta Clubs and places of mingling are situated all over the main cities. If dancing is your taste, salsa and other types of dancing are available in several venues within Valletta. Dance groups also bring culture and entertainment to the nightlife. In a place where modern motivation and ancient romance mix to create an overwhelming sensation, you can find ample opportunities to make those memories that will linger a lifetime.
Open air clubs in Malta : If you love clubbing then you should definitely not miss out on the fantastic open air parties that take place in a number of venues in Malta and Gozo. Look out for well-known clubs like Gianpula and Numero Uno.
