Driving to Las Vegas

We made a semi early start for the drive to Vegas around 8.30am It is around 350 miles from Carlsbad to Vegas and should of been comfortable in around 4 hours.

We found a huge shopping complex about an hour into the journey in a town called Riverside. Taylor managed to get some US exclusive Moshi monsters stuff and Max got some US Exclusive Hotwheels cars surprise surprise! Hayley was pretty good and didn't spend to long shopping or spending .. I think she's saving herself for Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills!

We made great time so we detoured off to the I-40 so could cut right through the Mojave Desert which was cool.

Most of todays Pics are of the Mojave desert!

Arrived in Vegas at 3.30 and valet parked up at the Palazzo Hotel - wow really great hotel even compared to those we have been lucky enough to stay in in the Middle East.

Checked into our Suite with our personal concierge and as the kids found out 3 TVs in the suite including one in the bathroom and luckily for Hayley Taylor and myself a separate toilet to keep Max happy! (and us)

So we hit the streets of Vegas and checked out the amazing fountain shows at Mirage and the Bellagio which were realy good - shorter than imagined but still good. There are people dressed up at characters along the strip ie Mickey Mouse Woody, Mario Bros, but as we learnt at 6pm these characters seem to spend all their tips on beer and vodka and most were passed out totally drunk on the sidewalk!

We walked down pretty much the entire strip and back - its a shame as it is awesome but seedy at the same time but then thats Vegas - we knew it wouldn't be ideal for the kids but just wanted to come whilst we were here. Hence we are only here two nights.

Tomorrow we are off to the other hotels to check out their exhibits etc...

Temperature's dropped unfortuntaly to 16 degrees.... wink
