Rotorua.....and breathe

Viewed: 167

And finally we stop for longer than two nights...phew!  We definitely need it as we are exhausted.  It's been a brilliant start to the holiday but far too much packed into too short a time.  More driving than we imagined, well not so much the driving as we knew we had a lot of driving to do, but what we hadn't taken into account was the terrain involved.

First night in Rotorua and into town we went.  Erm....where is everybody?  The town was empty, the restaurants and bars were empty, the shops were shut and there was no one about!?!  What is going on?  We had something to eat and went back to the campervan.  We weren't up to a big night, luckily as it seemed as if noone else was either.

Rotorus Day 2

A very lazy day in as much as we drove nowhere and spent the day doing chores such as the few bags of washing that had built up, we did some sorting out in the van and chilled out ready for the big night.  Come on Wales!  I had heard of a bar called The Shed and so we headed there.  It wasn't packed but did fill up slowly.  You all know the result so I'm not going to repeat it but needless to say I was and still am gutted as I think we were the best team on the night and certainly throughout the tournament.  Every Kiwi I have spoken to has said the same.  The curious thing was that as soon as the game finished, the bar emptied.  It was literally like the Marie Celeste!  Another early night then?
