Day 2 Dubuque to Rock Island IL.
Monday Morning, We found some life at the Marina and asked
about fuel for the boats alcohol cook top. The manager offered to let us use
his truck but no local shops had the fuel. We tightened a squealing fan belt
& ran a new power cable for the 12 volt coffee pot after it blew 2 fuses
& caused the old wires to get hot. It still took an hour & a half for
it to brew a pot
As I was driving the boat Just north of Clinton IA. and lock & Dam #13 the dashboard went dark & both motors simultaneously shut down but only for a second & by the time I could react one motor corrected itself and ran fine , the other motor restarted fine . We checked battery & cable connections but couldn’t find a problem.Stopped for Gas at the Lighthouse Restaurant & Marina 68 gallons gave us an mpg of around 1.7. They had a very nice restaurant where we had lunch. we picked up a gal. of oil for our starboard engine and made it through 2 more locks the last of which held us til dark again before we pulled into Sunset Park Marina for the night.
