Today is officially the last day of vacation. We arrived home Tuesday. Sunday evening KL and I decided it was time to get home. We left Petaluma, and the 101, Monday morning and KL drove all the way to Bakersfield. Once we hit the 5 we were able to make some time. Tuesday morning we were on the road by 4:30am. The grapevine didn’t disappoint, it was a white knuckle ride sliding back into the basin trying to battle the big rigs all the way. We’ve accomplished a thousand little tasks in the few days we’ve been home. TV had broken just before we left, a new one is in its place. The BBQ has been repaired, I have a new screen saver for my blackberry, a piece had broken on our blinds and that’s been ordered and a mountain of laundry has been washed and put away.
We did not, on vacation, find the perfect place to live. We did, however, come across a few places that will need further investigation. Baker City, Ore, Minden, NV and Crescent City, CA all need closer investigation. We need to spend a month in each of these places! We really loved Yachats, but it had two things we weren’t sure we could overcome. The weather, as we saw it on our visit, is beautiful for about 2 months a year. According to locals it’s stormy, cold and rainy the other 10. The other problem is that it’s on the 101. Every time you leave home you need to drive this twisty two lane hwy that frequently is socked in with fog.
Well it’s time to get back to reality. The dog needs a bath and we could use a few things from the grocery. It was a wonderful vacation and I can hardly wait for next years!
