Birdsville here we come!

Well we are approaching a "Ready" status.

We have been doing all the research and up-grading our vehicle. John reckons that I will need a step ladder to get into the Toyota.

We have our new springs& suspension front and back and also our new long range fuel tank.

John has fitted the flag pole to the new bull-bar. We have an orange flier to put on the top when we get into the desert. We need to attach it when we are going over the dunes. It is a necessary requirement.

Our C.B. has been checked as we need to chatter regularly on channel 10 as we proceed through the desert and over the dunes. We need to chat to each other and also to other travellersf or safety. Johnny B is coming down from Mt.Isa with George Tipping who is bringing down some horses for the race week-end. He is bringing down a satellite phone for us to take across the desert. We do sincerely hope we don't use it . It is a safety feature. Of all times, my good Garmin 760  GPS has gone bung. It it in Sydney being fixed but probably won't be back in time. Johnny B is lending us his Navman but I don't think it is suitable for the desert.

The plan is to leave Brissie on Sunday 29th August and hopefully reach Amby, past Roma. Then it's probably Quilpie and then Windorah. This will have us in Birdsville by we still have to pick up (buy) a Desert Pass from the National Parks Office.

I have cooked 6 meals and have frozen them ready for the trip and John has the fridges on already checking everythingbefore we fill them up.The Waeco will be in the cabin with us and the food fridge will be in the back.

Happy travels.
