Sorry for the boring update
Monday August 29, 2010
I just got home from work, and I was debating on whether or not I should do a blog this week, but after all the disappointment last time I missed one, I thought of your happiness and decided to write a quick update. Basically, not too much is new with us. The past week has been pretty much full of Oscar studying and me finding things to do with my time so I don’t distract him! He is coming to the end of his first quarter/semester and he has been really busy with group projects, papers, tests, and group meetings. He is actually at class right now doing his first group presentation. We will both be really happy when this next week is over and we can jump on the plane to Uluru and spoil ourselves with a fun weekend in the outback!
So… Oscar has been studying and I have been going
walks to get away from him. The weather was beautiful this weekend and
the perfect chance for me to get to explore Sydney on foot. On Saturday, I walked to Glebe and went
to the market there. It was a good walk and took about an hour and 15
to get there. It was wonderful and I got a really cute dress and a few
for birthdays/Christmas! I think
so far it is my favorite market. I ended up walking from the Glebe
Paddy’s market in Chinatown.
Paddy’s market is definitely an experience. It
is a huge indoor market full of crap! Everything is from
China and pretty much every booth has the same stuff as the last booth. Even though it’s junk, there were a few
good buys and I got some fun “Australia/Sydney” items (aka your
birthday/Christmas presents…so don’t get too excited…haha). After shopping/walking all day I headed
home and Oscar and I went out to eat in Darlinghurst to a really good
restaurant. Then we had some
Gelato at the “best gelato place in Sydney”. It
was good, but its nothing compared to gelato in Italy and
I’m hoping Sydney can do better! I guess we'll have to
keep testing them here :)
On Sunday, I had to find something to do, so I decided to check out the Bondi Beach market. I also walked to Bondi Beach (another 1 ½ walk and another beautiful day). I had fun wondering around Bondi Beach and watching the surfers. Luckily, the market had basically the same vendors that I’ve seen at Paddington market so I didn’t buy anything. I kept wishing all day that Oscar was with me. It was such a beautiful day and I felt so bad that he was stuck inside studying.
After a weekend of markets, Oscar (and I) decided I needed to find a different hobby for the weekends : ) I’ve decided that next weekend I’m going to go on a photo safari around Sydney with my good camera. As long as the weather is like it has been, look for some fun pictures next week!
Okay, well that’s all I can think of. Sorry this one was a bit boring…I’m sure once Oscar is done with school we will have some more fun updates and in 2 weeks we’ll be telling you about Uluru!!
