Hello Everyone,

First, I’d like to apologize for missing last week’s update.  I’m sorry for all of you that were so sad not to see my update on Monday morning and I’m sorry if I ruined your day/week.  I don’t really have a good excuse; I was just being lazy.  We have had a lot of fun and exciting things happen in the past 2 weeks and I’m going to do my best to remember them all and keep this update as short as possible.  So, the last time I wrote we had finished the City2Surf and I was feeling a bit sore.  I’m happy to say that after a few days I was back to happily walking up stairs and using the toilet!

Oscar has been really busy at school, with lots of homework, projects, and team meetings.  He’s grateful for his job, but I don’t think I would say he loves it and we are both looking forward to our first vacation and his school break in 3 weeks!  I can’t remember if I put this in the update, but Oscar and I are going to Uluru (the Outback) on Sept 10-12.  Now it’s time for me to make you jealous…we are staying at this amazing place called Longitude 131.  It is very exclusive, 5 star tents that are in the middle of the outback, overlooking Uluru.  Basically, we will be staying with the rich and famous.  I thought we should role play and pretend we were American celebrities, but Oscar didn’t go for it, so we’ll just have to pretend like we have lots of money and we stay at places like this all the time :)  (we are quite spoiled being in the industry).  It’s definitely a splurge, but I got us a great deal and it’s all-inclusive so we are going for it and we’re very excited.

We’ve also booked a 10-day trip to Fiji!  We are going to island hop for 6 nights and stay in cute Fijian Bures and we are starting and ending our trip with a few nights at some 5 star hotels on the main Island near Nadi.  Again, I got us a fantastic industry deal and we decided we would take advantage and stay a little longer and see more of Fiji.

The last and maybe the most exciting part will start the day after we get back from Fiji!  My parents are flying in on Dec 16 and will be with us for Christmas!  We have already planned/booked their trips and we will be going to the Great Barrier Reef, The Whitsunday Islands, doing a road trip to Melbourne/The Great Ocean Drive, and also going to the Blue Mountains!  So, basically for 1 month Oscar and I will just be traveling around this awesome country. I know it’s a bit crazy, but why not? We’re here so we want to make the most of it!

Okay, I’ll stop making you jealous with our trips – So, the past 2 weeks we have seen and done a lot around Sydney.  Oscar and I saw an Australian Possum in Hyde Park and it was actually kind cute (much cuter than the ones at home).  Last Sunday, we had dinner with a wonderful Aussie family (my mom’s friend’s brother’s family) and it was so nice of them to have us over.  We had a great dinner and they were so much fun.  I felt like I was home sitting at the dinner table with my family.  We hope to keep in touch with them while we are here.

Last Friday night we went on a chocolate date night!  There’s this great “bar” called Max Brenner’s Chocolate Bar and they serve several different types of hot chocolates, desserts, fondues, crepes, Belgian waffles, and so much more wonderfully delicious goodies!  It’s just down the street and it was a fun Friday night.

We also booked tickets to see the opera for Oscar’s birthday.  We are going to see The Marriage of Figaro at the Sydney Opera house on his birthday, so we are really excited for that experience and it should be really special.

Last night we went to an Aussie Rules Football game, aka footy, and watched the Sydney Swans crush the Western Bulldogs (from Melbourne).  It was so much fun, and it’s really a great sport and fun to watch (once we started to learn all the rules).  We had awesome seats and it was an incredible experience.  It was the last home game of the season, so we were really glad we got the chance to go.  It’s fun to be apart of the crowds of fans screaming… SYYDNEEEY, SYYDNEEY… and screaming and yelling every time they scored.  At the end of the game everyone sings a victory song and then they have a really cool tradition where they allow the fans to run out on the field.  Hundreds of people run onto the field with their footballs and tackle each other, try to kick field goals, and just have fun.  It was really cool being out on the field and a little dangerous too – I almost got trampled :).  So, last night was the highlight of our past two weeks.  We’ve been laying pretty low because Oscar is so busy at school and we are trying to save our money for our awesome trips that are coming up.  Tonight we did go out to dinner at the cute intersection in Paddington called Five Ways.  We went to a cool restaurant called A Fish Called Paddo where you pick out the fish you want and they grill it for you, and then you pick a vegetable/side.  It was really good!

Okay, well that’s it for now.  I hope I haven’t bored you, and I’m sorry I’ve mixed up the days of my update…just trying to keep you on your toes :)

With Love,

Piper and Oscar

P.S. I just wanted to note that the highlight of our days lately has been waking up and going to bed to Natalie!  She is obsessed with Oscar and every time she sees a computer she gets all excited and says… Osca Osca Osca!  We’ve had some fun 10-15 min Skyping sessions with some dancing too.  She is getting so big and is cuter every time I see her.  I’m so glad we are able to see her so often and that she is remembering us.  I have to admit I’m a bit jealous of Oscar, and I’m trying to get her to say… Piper, Piper Piper, but at least she still taps her chest when she wants to say my name and I think when she says Osca she really means the both of us... :)
