10 free days of Vipassana Meditation at North Fork of California
4-2-2008 to 4-13-2008
This is my second time to attend this ten-day free courses of Vipassana Meditation at North Fork of California situated on 109 acres in a seren and tranquil country environment among trees and hills. Sometimes, deer can be seen strolling by. It is the most perfect site for practicing and learning meditation. Anyone can join for it is a non-profit organizition.
It took about three and half hours to drive approximately 200 miles from Bay area to North Fork.
They provide free meals and lodgings (single room or sharing with others).
Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India's most ancient techniques of meditation. This non-sectarian technique aims for the total eradication of mental impurities and the resultant highest happiness of full liberation. Healing, not merely the curing of diseases, but the essential healing of human suffering,is its purpose.
All students must observe Noble Silence from the beginning of the course until the last day. Noble Silence means silence of body, speech, and mind. Any form of communication with fellow students, whether by gestures, sign language, written notes, etc.,is prohibited.
Since this meditation center is near Yosemite Park, after the course I drove to spend a few hours there and stopped by some cities on the way home.
