I was fortunate enough to go home for the holidays for 3 weeks. My best friend from Pacific (well one of them) didn't go home to Mexico for Christmas so she came to visit while I was home to experience her first American Christmas. Sophie had come to SLC our freshman year for a few days in mid-December so we spent her 12 days this time keeping busy trying to do new things. These pictures depict some of the trouble we got into (a lot of which my family participated in). Other people have pictures of other adventures we went on, but I'd need their permission to post them. [There's some really good ones too!]

I am a very lucky individual since not only did Sophie fly down from Oregon to visit, but my grandparents on my mom's side drove down to spend the holiday with us as well.  Not to mention all the great support, and fun, that my family (& friends) from SLC were.  I truly had an awesome time being home! So thank you everyone who were a part of that!

For those of you who don't know, Arches National Park is pretty much my favorite park. I always love going down there, and I've wanted to go during the winter to see the snow on the sandstone for a long time. This year my mom was really great and made it happen, so she, Sophie and I headed down for a quick trip before the New Years. Here's just the quick note that Arches website says:

"Arches National Park preserves over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, like the world-famous Delicate Arch, as well as many other unusual rock formations. In some areas, the forces of nature have exposed millions of years of geologic history. The extraordinary features of the park create a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures that is unlike any other in the world."

For those of you who haven't been I recommend it. Or at least I recommend any part of the Southern half of Utah. The landscape is truly magnificent. (Side note: There is a new movie out on DVD called The Canyon that is supposed to be about the Grand Canyon, but in fact was mostly filmed in Moab and areas in Arizona around Lake Powell - some of my favorite places in the world. I plan on watching it tonight!)
